Gunung Datuk - the trek that almost killed me
Quotes myself from the entry i did on the night i returned from Datuk:Its no simple trek. Its a killer trek! An ULTIMATE TEST OF ENDURANCE.
We obviously underestimated it by clubbing the whole morning and not sleeping a wink. Thankfully, we managed to catch up on some lost sleep by napping on the train ride and anywhere possible.
The climb up was.... like a death drain. It was so steep which made me super breathless. I was literally going to explode from within!! When I was going to die, I asked how long more. I THOUGHT WE WERE REACHING. Horror of horrors, we were only ONE QUARTER done. I dunno I was feeling faint from the tiredness or shock.
I climbed on and on, trying to divert my thoughts from the horrifying truth. In vain, I found myself thinking anti-trek thoughts like: NO MORE TREKKING FOR ME! I felt like I was looking for trouble.. I could be doing something else. Or just sleeping. It would feel better than this.
The terrain was such that the first half was killing and the second half was not so killing but it din quite help. There were manyatimes I wanted to give up completely... However, thats the beauty of trekking with a group - U support each other: morally and physically. Somehow, I didnt surrender to my weakness, instead, I CONQUERED MYSELF AND WENT BEYOND MY LIMITATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rahhhhh!!!!!!
Pictures & memories!
